HomeNewsScheid named president, COO of Dancik

CARY, N.C.—Since the mid 1980s, Mitch Dancik has been helping floor covering distributors and manufacturers better manage their business with innovative software solutions. While he remains the chairman of his namesake company, he announced that Randy Scheid has been promoted to president and COO.

Scheid has been with Dancik since 2003, serving as client services manager and director of operations. Dancik said, Scheid assumes full operating responsibility for the company, and will continue to drive the software developer’s strong and steady growth.

“The title has finally caught up with his achievements,” noted the company’s founder, saying, “Randy has run Dancik’s daily operations for several years, hence the dual title ‘president and COO’ was appropriate.”

Scheid’s previous responsibilities will be supported by other seasoned company employees, Dancik explained. They include, Thuy Dancik, CFO; Danielle Howe, client services manager; Andy Wachter, project manager lead; James Johnson, quality assurance manager; John Gulas, business systems architect, and David Mosley, technical systems architect.

“I’m very fortunate to assume the role of president in such a well established organization,” Scheid told FCNews. “We have wonderful customers, great products and great            employees. Our goal is to listen to our customers’ needs and deliver solutions in the most efficient and cost effective manner.”

Concerning Scheid’s promotion, Dancik said, “Randy has fully immersed himself in understanding our customers, our customers’ businesses, and the industries we serve. He enjoys the confidence of our customers and our staff. Randy deserves credit for the high level of customer service satisfaction, and for the continuous improvement of our software development cycle.”

While some may wonder if Dancik is stepping back toward retirement, he told FCNews, it’s more of a “stepping up” as several members of his team said. “I will still be involved with the design of our software and I will still interact with our customers” as well as remain active in various industry associations.

“My most important priority over the past few years was to build a vibrant new team that could improve on what I had achieved,” he added. “Once that team had proven itself, it was time for me to let them lead.”

With new leadership, Dancik pointed out the company is “reinventing [its] entire line of software applications for a new generation of users in the flooring industry, and other markets we choose to enter.”

After spending a year of in-depth industry research on behalf of a client in the mid 1980s, Dancik released the company’s original software products—Tile Vision, Floor Vision and Marble Vision. They have since evolved into Dancik’s current suite of products. Today, nearly every major distributor and some of the largest mills run software by Dancik. And, it has been estimated that more than half of all the hard surface flooring sold in North America is processed by the company’s software at some point in the making/selling process.

Mitch Dancik’s success was recently recognized, as he was named one of the Top 25 People over the last quarter century by FCNews as part of its 25th anniversary celebration (May 16/23).
