BOLOGNA, ITALY—Cersaie, the world’s largest tile show, scheduled for Sept. 20 to 24, will stage a conference on day one called “New architectures,” an event bringing together five major figures in the field of socially engaged architecture who will explore sustainable solutions.
The participants are: Bijoy Jain, who believes artisans, carpenters and stonemasons also have a role as consultants; Diébédo Francis Kéré, who pursues a sustainable architectural vision with both social and cultural implications; Emilio Caravatti of Italy, who embraces social engagement as the key feature of his work; Riccardo Vannucci, a Roman architect whose career has spanned design, engineering and management, and Chilean architect Germán Del Sol, who will outline his experience ranging from modern and futuristic projects such as thermal spas and large hotels to furniture and design objects.
