Dalton—Shaw Industries’ global expansion continues with the opening of showrooms in Mexico City and Beijing.

The Beijing showroom follows on the heels of the company announcing that along with breaking ground on a carpet tile manufacturing facility in China, it opened a showroom in Shanghai (FCNews, Feb. 20/27), and its Anderson division opened a retail store geared to designers in the same city (FCNews, April 2/9).

“As we expand into the growing Beijing market, Shaw is increasing its presence, giving new and existing customers greater access to our entire catalog of flooring solutions,” said John Stephens, vice president of marketing for Shaw Contract Group.

He added, like the company’s staff in Shanghai, “Shaw sales team members are seasoned professionals, intimately familiar with the Beijing commercial market.”

The showroom in Mexico City is a partnership between Shaw Contract Group and Terza, a manufacturer of residential carpet products in Mexico and the exclusive distributor of Shaw products in Mexico. Terza is jointly owned by Grupo ALFA and Shaw, and is one of a number of collaborations on which the two companies have worked.

“Growing our sales penetration into the Mexico City market has been an important objective for Shaw Contract for several years,” said Shaw’s John Davis, vice president of international sales. “Our partnership with Terza has helped us enter this market. Now, with a dedicated salesforce in place focused on elevating the Shaw brand, we are strategically positioned to service the needs of the A&D community.”

Sales representatives from both Shaw and Terza servicing corporate and institutional projects will be based out of the showroom.

Regarding Shaw’s overall global strategy, Stephens said the company is expanding its presence in “strategic markets around the globe. Places where we see opportunity for growth and the ability to enhance the services available to our customers. Whereas our Asia Pacific expansion is designed to open doors for new business relationships, the Mexico City showroom reflects our continued commitment to support this growing market for forward-thinking architectural and interior design projects which are a part of the city’s heritage.”
