Oisterwijk, The Netherlands—Aquafil has completed the acquisition of the nylon 6 carpet yarn business unit previously owned by Domo Chemicals and known as Xentrys. A newly formed company, Aqualeuna, will start to operate the plant located in Leuna, Germany, on Oct 1.
The facility, Aquafil said, has an installed capacity of approximately 40 million pounds per year of BCF yarn manufacturing and a similar twisting and heat setting capacity. The Aqualeuna plant is the fifth BCF extrusion operation run by the Aquafil group. The other locations are Arco di Trento (Italy), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Cartersville, Ga., and Jiaxing (China).
