Calhoun, Ga.–Mohawk Group announced that the company’s flooring products captured an Interior Design magazine’s Best of Year award as well as two honoree designations.

Durkan, the hospitality brand of the Mohawk Group, took home the top honor in the hospitality carpet category for its Lakir Collection. Additionally, Mohawk received Best of Year Honoree recognitions for Moving Floors in the Carpet/Modular category and Modern Dobby for the Carpet/Broadloom category.

“We’re focused on building a collection of products that are not only high performing, but meet the aesthetic requirements of today’s demands,” said Jackie Dettmar, vice president of design and product development. “Receiving recognition in Interior Design’s Best of Year Awards is validation of our commitment to developing the best in product design and we’re extremely honored to be recognized by the architects and designers of our industry for the passion that goes into these products.”

Mohawk Group products were finalists in a range of flooring categories including the Carpet/Hospitality, Carpet/Modular and Carpet/Broadloom categories. Lakir by Durkan was named the winner in the hospitality category. The Best of Year win marks the fifth design award received by the collection. Inspired by the simplicity of lines, rendered in muted blues and frosted grays and featuring a precision sculpted effect, Lakir’s patterns explore and emphasize the technical capabilities exclusive to Durkan’s Definity manufacturing technology, which replicates the durability and look of Axminster as it has never been done before.

Best of Year product design finalists were selected by interior designers and architects via an online vote, and finalists were posted prior to the awards event.
