Armstrong Commercial Flooring was honored with a Bronze award in Sustainable Living/Environmental Preservation for STRIATIONS BBT BioBased TileĀ in the 2011 International Design Awards (IDA).

Architects and designers of interiors, fashion, products, and graphics submitted entries from over 65 countries throughout the world, proving IDA’s global emphasis. Winners were recognized for their excellence in originality, creativity, excellence of execution, and overall impact.Ā

STRIATIONS is an environmentally friendly BioBased Tile collection offering exciting visuals inspired by the natural qualities found in ancient stone and time-weathered wood. To further give the illusion of real wood and stone, STRIATIONS has been designed with a unique 12ā€ x 24ā€ linear format, offering unlimited options to create sophisticated and stunning flooring layouts.

Ā ā€œThis product will change the way you look at tile,ā€ said award-winning designer Di Anna Borders, Armstrong. These design features are presented in a non-PVC tile containing Armstrongā€™s exclusive BioStride polymer which is made from rapidly renewable, U.S.-grown plant materials, 10% pre-consumer recycled content and 85% natural limestone. Made in the USA (it contains at least 60% content from US sources), STRIATIONS also boasts enhanced performance of standard VCT, with twice the indent resistance, five times greater impact resistance and true through-pattern construction for an extended floor life.

ā€œThe innovation and quality of the submissions are amazing and we are thrilled that this Armstrong product was recognized to be among the worldā€™s top product designs,ā€ said Borders.Ā  ā€œFeedback that weā€™ve been getting from customers reinforces that they love the product for its versatile beauty and sustainability attributes, but also for the practical reasons of durability and competitive pricing.Ā  Itā€™s a win/win.ā€

The International Design Awards were developed to celebrate the world’s most visionary designers, discover new and emerging talent, and promote the appreciation of design worldwide.
