Dalton—World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) has appointed David Garden and Typhannie Watson as the newest members to its board of directors. Garden and Watson will serve a three-year and two-year term, respectively.

“We are thrilled to welcome two experienced voices to the Board to help lead our association and members during such an important time for our industry,” said Scott Humphrey, CEO of the WFCA. “David and Typhannie are passionate advocates and bring unique perspectives and enthusiasm that will help enhance our efforts towards ensuring the success and profitability of the independent floor covering dealer.”

Garden, a CFI master installer and president of Installation Services in Troy, Mich., has been involved in the flooring industry for over 30 years. Through providing exemplary craftsmanship and service, Garden has grown the business from a small flooring services company with a single location to one of the largest flooring installation companies in the Midwest. “I started in this industry as a teenager,” Garden said. “As an installer, I am deeply invested in improving the industry and being a part of the solution working to solve the installation crisis. With my involvement with CFI and now the WFCA, I am extremely honored to bring my experience to this challenge.”

Taking over her father’s business—and legacy—Watson is the owner of Carpeting by Mike in Somerset, Wis. Founded in 1973, Carpeting by Mike was built on its customer-centric approach and “can-do” attitude. Watson shadowed her father since she was a child and hopes to fulfill the vision he had for her and the company. “With the new initiative to help solve the installation crisis, an initiative where everyone has some skin in the game, I am proud to play a part in WFCA’s influence in the industry,” Watson said. “I’m very excited to continue my father’s legacy and maybe, just maybe, I can start my own legacy by being ‘A Part of the Solution’ vs. crossing my fingers and hoping someone else can fix it.”

Garden and Watson join the existing board of directors headed by Deb DeGraaf, co-owner of DeGraaf Interiors.
