AFCJF confirms support for DOC ruling extension

HomeNewsAFCJF confirms support for DOC ruling extension

Seattle—Jonathan Train, president of the Alliance for Free Choice & Jobs in Flooring (AFCJF) said he “welcomes the extension of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) deadline for issuing the preliminary antidumping determination” in the multilayered (engineered) flooring case now pending at the DOC and the International Trade Commission.

“Extensions like this one are routinely requested and granted by the DOC,” Train said. “Anything that allows the DOC to more thoroughly examine the facts of this case is a positive development because we believe the facts favor our side and not the U.S. manufacturers who are the petitioners in this case.”

“It is completely reasonable for the DOC to have more time to process and read the questionnaires,” he continued, noting the DOC questionnaires are highly detailed and complicated, even sometimes confusing.

The Commerce Department extension of the deadline means the preliminary antidumping determination will be issued in mid-May. This extension does not affect the preliminary countervailing duty determination, which is expected on March 21.
