CFIDalton—Certified Flooring Installers (CFI) launched an innovative Commercial Resilient Training program, designed to meet the evolving needs of flooring installers. This addition to CFI’s educational offerings will be introduced during the 30th anniversary convention in Orlando, from September 20-22.

“The commercial resilient team lead by Dick Schmidt did an amazing job of developing this new curriculum,” said Dave Garden, CFI Executive Director of Education. “This training will fulfill a need for more qualified installers in the commercial segment of our industry. We plan to put some of this training on display at our upcoming convention and are excited to see the industry’s reaction.”

The Commercial Resilient Training program comprises three distinct modules tailored to cater to various skill levels and installer requirements:

  • Commercial Resilient – Flat Lay (4-Day Training): This comprehensive module focuses on imparting best practices for the installation of both homogeneous (HO) and heterogeneous (HE) commercial sheet vinyl flooring.
  •  Commercial Resilient – Flash Cove (2-Day Training): Participants in this training will gain expertise in pattern scribing techniques and the installation of flash coving, a crucial skill in the resilient flooring sector.
  • Commercial Resilient – Seam Construction (1-Day Training): Covering both cold and heat welding techniques, this module ensures that installers master proper seam construction.

These courses can be taken individually to address specific needs or as part of the complete program, providing flexibility and tailored learning opportunities for industry professionals.

The first training event of the Commercial Resilient Training program will be hosted by the Kentuckian Floor Covering Education Committee (KFCEC). Scheduled for October 11 to 13 at Fishmen Flooring Solutions in Louisville, Ky., this event will feature the 2-day Flash Cove and 1-day Seam Construction training modules.

This new initiative marks CFI’s second major commercial program introduction this year. Earlier in 2023, CFI successfully launched its Advanced Commercial Carpet Training program, which received positive industry feedback.

For more details, registration information or inquiries about this program or other CFI training and certification programs, please visit the website or contact the main office at (816) 231-4646.

For those interested in attending CFI’s annual convention, held in collaboration with FCICA, there is still time to register.
