LEBANON, PA.—Kids at the Nicetown Boys & Girls Club will soon enjoy a completely renovated facility, thanks to the efforts of the Shane Victorino Foundation and community partners including Regupol America, Robbins Flooring, Abacus Sports Installations, Ltd., and several others.

The Shane Victorino Foundation (SVF) is dedicated to promoting opportunities for underserved youth in Philadelphia and Hawaii, engaging in projects that provide children with educational, recreational and wellness programs. The renovation of the Nicetown Boys & Girls Club is the organization’s major endeavor in Philadelphia. The nonprofit pledged nearly $1 million to renovate the 105-year-old building. The club recently celebrated a grand reopening ceremony on Sept. 22.

“The renovation of the Nicetown Boys & Girls Club is a very special initiative for me and my wife, Melissa,” said Shane Victorino, co-founder of the Shane Victorino Foundation & center fielder for the Phillies. “Not only have we recognized the need that exists to help children in this community, but we are proud to have partners like Regupol America, and others, join our effort to provide them with a safe, positive place to gather after school.”

Regupol, the chosen supplier of recycled rubber flooring for sports and athletic surfaces, teamed with partner companies to supply a full system flooring solution for the new facility. “We’ve been supporting the Boys & Girls Club for years and the fact that this facility was in a nearby Pennsylvania town left no question. We were happy to give them whatever they needed,” said John Aten, vice present of sales and marketing.

Regupol donated more than 9,100 square feet of Regupol AktivTM recycled rubber sports flooring for the facility and 2300 sq/ft of Regupol Shock Padding for the cushioning under the gym floor, a total value of more than $34,000.

Robbins Sports Surfaces of Cincinnatti, Ohio generously donated the gymnasium floor, a value of $28,000, while Abacus Sports Installations, Ltd., Lancaster, Pa. agreed to donate the installation of both the Regupol and Robbins products, a $25,000 value. Sika Corporation donated the adhesive for the installation while Schutz NA provided the finish for the the Regupol Aktiv flooring.

In response, Al Mollica, Chief Development Officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia stated that the organization’s “staff, volunteers and members are grateful to the Regupol Corporation and their subcontractors for their extraordinary donation of flooring throughout our newly renovated Shane Victorino Nicetown Boys & Girls Club. Every day for many years to come our members and visitors from throughout the community will take full advantage of the durability and functionality of the flooring in our Victorino Nicetown Club. Thank you for your community-minded corporate philosophy and for a generous expression of support that will benefit thousands of Philadelphia children for years to come.”

“We are committed to providing opportunities for underserved youth and through this project, we will give the children of Nicetown access to much-needed resources and a state-of-the-art facility,” added Kari Uyehara, Shane Victorino Foundation executive director. “We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from Regupol America as well as other community members. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of countless children.”
