Moore named CEO of B Carpet

HomeNewsMoore named CEO of B Carpet

DALTON—B Carpet has named Elizabeth Moore CEO, making the industry veteran one of the only females running a carpet mill. In addition, it is now a majority woman-owned business.

A shareholder in the company since she was 17, Moore began working as director of sales and marketing for B Carpet in 2009, when her father, chairman Burton Brown, turned over his half of the business to Moore and his other daughter, Louise Lochner.

Shortly thereafter, Moore became vice president. Prior to B Carpet, she spent 25 years within the industry, serving in product development, marketing and then sales at Horizon/Mohawk, Interface, Bentley Prince Street, Amtico, and finally her sales agency, Moore Contract Sales.

Since joining B Carpet, Moore has spear-headed rebranding efforts focused on elevating the company’s image to reflect the upscale products it produces and hospitality market it serves. While celebrating 30 years in business, the company’s rebranding included its name change from Burtco Enterprises to B Carpet.

Co-founded by Brown in 1979, Burtco printed and marketed 5/64 velour carpet imported from Belgium before investing in one of Tuftco’s first graphics tufting machines in the early 1980s.

In 1990, he teamed with Bob Kokoszka, who was then made president. As demand for more organic and complex patterned carpet grew, Burtco purchased the first of four CYP (computerized yarn placement) machines before eventually acquiring the assets from Tapistron.

Today, the children of Brown and Kokoszka are playing integral roles in the company, with Moore as CEO and Robert Kokoszka Jr. as vice president of manufacturing. “We’re in a unique position in the high-end hospitality market,” Moore said. “We have the fun job of making reality out of designers’ visions.”
