DALTON—Surrounded by laughing children, live music and mingled voices, the associates of J&J Industries heard the sounds of friendship and camaraderie as they enjoyed the mill’s 2012 Family Day.

The event was a celebration of the company’s 55th anniversary and was held at the North Georgia Agricultural Fairgrounds. More than 900 associates and family members attended the festivities.

“The smiling faces of over 900 people at our Family Day demonstrate that the J&J community is as strong as ever,” said David Jolly, president and CEO.

Since its beginnings in 1957, he said J&J Industries has considered everyone who works for the company as family and its many company traditions support that belief. “J&J is so much more than just a carpet manufacturer—it’s a family of people who are dedicated to an idea and to each other. This commitment is what makes us strong, and it’s only right that we recognize our associates and take every opportunity to thank them. Family Day is one small part of helping people spend time with their families and re-energize the spirit of community with their fellow employees.”

An afternoon of fun-filled activities greeted J&J employees when they arrived at the fairgrounds. From carnival-style games to arts and crafts for kids, there was something for everyone.

“It really means a lot that they take the time to plan and offer so many activities when they don’t have to,” said Eddie Brewer, a seven- year J&J associate who works in the sample department.

At the end of the event, door prizes were given away. The loudest applause erupted when customer service employee and 16-year company veteran Denise York, won a 40-inch LCD flat screen TV. Other giveaways included a spa day package, a Dewalt tool kit and an iPad.
