Gray Court, S.C.—The National Association of Floor Covering Technicians (NAFCT) announced the adoption of a diversity statement. The statement was voted in by the board of directors.

The NAFCT Diversity Statement reads as follows:

“The National Association of Floor Covering Technicians (NAFCT) is committed to the educational and technical advancement of all its members, with the goal of elevating the professionalism and quality of work done by NAFCT certified professionals and thereby the flooring industry at large.

NAFCT seeks and embraces people of all backgrounds, this includes persons of varying beliefs, abilities, race, ethnicity, age, national or regional origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, military service, political affiliation, family status, physical ability or any other factor not germane to the curricular and testing standards necessary to complete the technical requirements for NAFCT certification.”

The NAFCT gave a special thank you to Alex Wiedenhoeft and Patricia Vega for their help in crafting the diversity statement. The group also said it will work to ensure that this commitment extends to everyone, and that the flooring industry benefits from the qualities and perspectives of the fullest diversity of professionals now and into the future.

The NAFCT said it will uphold these principles with regard to leadership of the association, trainers, schools and certificate-holders, and will work actively to improve its support for the equitable inclusion of all people working to enhance their technical and professional understanding of floor coverings.
