Matter SurfacesNew York, N.Y.—Mats Inc., a national commercial flooring company, said it is now under a new name and identity: Matter Surfaces. Over the past 50 years, the family-owned company said it has grown well beyond its origins selling entrance mats and now ushers in a new and exciting chapter. Matter Surfaces said it will continue to be the exclusive North American distributor for a curated selection of European brands including, BOLON, Parador Modular ONE and wineo Purline, while further establishing itself as a design-focused architectural surfaces company.

Matter Surfaces also offers its own collections, which currently include arrival entrance solutions and formative contract flooring. Plans for additions in new categories are in the works and will be announced later this year. With these collections and their brand partnerships, Matter Surfaces offers an expansive catalog of solutions for retail, healthcare, hospitality, corporate and multi-family environments, according to the company.

Matter Surfaces said foundational components of indoor environments, like entrance systems and designer flooring, are integral to creating healthy spaces and the company practices trust and transparency when servicing clients.

“We started as an entrance matting company more than 50 years ago and our name reflected that,” said Barry Hume, president and CEO. “Over the years, we initiated partnerships that brought us well beyond the entranceway and directly into commercial interiors. Today, we’re proud to be a surfaces company focused on great design, wellness and service for the commercial market. We wanted our name and identity to reflect this evolution.”
