Georgia Sea Turtle CenterJekyll Island, Ga.—In celebration of sea turtle nesting season, Mohawk announced the installation of SolidTech R flooring at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center here. This partnership highlights Mohawk’s commitment to addressing plastic pollution and its detrimental effects on marine life, especially sea turtles.

“Education is the thread that runs through everything we do,” said Michelle Kaylor, director of the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. “Whether it is rehabbing a patient, teaching a classroom of children about sea turtles or conducting research on the beach, we are constantly learning and sharing knowledge to inspire others to take action. The installation of SolidTech R flooring not only enhances our facility but, because each square foot contains the equivalent of 20 recycled water bottles, we know we are also helping keep plastic out of the environment.”

The center is a premier facility dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sea turtles. It serves as a vital resource for educating the public about the importance of marine conservation.

“We have focused on the plastic crisis for many years, recycling over six billion single-use plastic bottles into flooring products annually,” said Erica Breazeale, Mohawk’s vice president of marketing, resilient. “When we saw the opportunity to partner with the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, we knew it was a perfect fit. By replacing all PVC with 100% recycled, single-use plastic, Mohawk is diverting plastic pollution from landfills and waterways with each plank of SolidTech R. Witnessing the patients in recovery at the Georgia center has only deepened our determination to make a significant impact through this initiative.”
