Natick, Mass.—Dover Rug & Home has announced its sponsorship of the fourth annual “Showdown at Symphony” World Squash Champions Team Challenge, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Boston’s historic Symphony Hall. The 2013 “Showdown at Symphony” features four squash competitors that have achieved immense status in the sport. Confirmed players include No. 1 ranked in the world, James Willstrop and Nick Matthew of England and four-time World Champion Amr Shabana and World No. 5 Mohamed Elshorbagy of Egypt.

“Showdown at Symphony” donates 50% of the net event proceeds to SquashBusters, the first non-profit youth enrichment program to combine squash, academics, and community service. SquashBusters is based at Northeastern University in Boston and serves 120 urban youths annually. This intensive after-school program promotes academic enrichment, athletics, community service and character development.

“We’re thrilled to once again participate as a sponsor of Showdown at Symphony,” said Mahmud Jafri, owner of Dover Rug & Home. “This event benefits a great cause and Dover Rug & Home has been a long-time supporter of international squash. Through our Dover Squash & Fitness facility, we carry on the mission of encouraging the game and promoting a healthy lifestyle to those of all skill levels.”

Jafri is the recipient of the 2013 Immigrant Entrepreneur Award for “Outstanding Neighborhood Business” by the Immigrant Learning Center. He has been appointed by Gov. Deval Patrick to his advisory council on Immigrants and Refugees, and is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), International Furnishing and Design Association (IFDA), and the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA). Dover Rug is the recipient of the 2011“Best of” Boston Home award as well as the CNC 2013 Reader’s Choice award for “Best Carpet Store.” The company is consistently recognized for its philanthropy, as it supports over 50 charitable organizations on a regular basis.
