Through an agreement with CFL, Unilin Division Technologies has obtained sublicensing rights on 12 patent families owned by CFL which relate to magnesium oxide boards and to certain multi-layered flooring technologies, such as polymeric boards with melamine paper layer. Similar rights have been granted to the companies Välinge and I4F through separate agreements.
“We are excited to start this cooperation with CFL since it allows us to add additional patent protection to our continuously growing licensing base in resilient and other new material product flooring categories,” explained Bart Van der Stockt, managing director of Unilin Technologies. “The patents of CFL are a perfect addition to Unilin’s existing patent portfolio of 900-plus patents and 200-plus patent applications in the resilient flooring category.”
Thomas Baert, president, CFL Flooring, said the company is looking forward to introducing its new technologies via Unilin, Välinge and I4F. “Innovation is the key driver of our company and of the flooring industry as a whole,” Baert added. “We are happy that our innovation efforts can now find their way to the global market through the main licensing companies of our industry”.
