St. Louis, Mo. — The National Wood Flooring Association is pleased to announce that HGTV celebrity designer Carter Oosterhouse will host its Wood Floor of the Year Awards Luncheon during the NWFA’s 2012 Wood Flooring Expo. The luncheon will be held April 12 in Orlando, Fla., at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center.

Since his first appearance as a master carpenter on the popular design show, Trading Spaces, Oosterhouse has been voted People magazine’s “Sexiest Man on TV,” and has become an HGTV regular. As host of HGTV’s Carter Can; Red, Hot & Green; and a regular contributor to the Emmy Award-winning Rachael Ray show, Oosterhouse’s unique combination of hands-on skill and passion for design have given him widespread appeal for both craftsmen and designers.

On Carter Can, Oosterhouse comes to the rescue of homeowners who think that their home improvement project can’t be done because of time, expense or lack of expertise. In addition to practical advice, Oosterhouse provides green-building solutions and design alternatives that conserve energy and reduce environmental waste to each renovation project. Oosterhouse has become a go-to expert for many national outlets including: Rachael Ray, The Today Show, The CBS Early Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The View, Entertainment Tonight, Extra, USA Today and The Los Angeles Times.

Oosterhouse is also the founder of Carter’s Kids, an organization dedicated to building and developing community parks and playgrounds in low-income areas in an effort to promote healthy living. Carter’s Kids has brought playgrounds to areas across the country including Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas and Miami.

At the NWFA Wood Flooring Expo, Oosterhouse will be on-hand as a keynote speaker for the Awards Luncheon, and will present the NWFA’s Wood Floor of the Year awards, which were developed to encourage and recognize innovative craftsmanship and design in wood flooring installations. Since the program began in 1990, more than 200 awards have been presented to companies throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in Russia and Finland. Last year’s competition yielded nearly 100 entries from six countries.

As an added incentive for architects and designers to attend, four one-hour AIA and ASID approved CEUs will be offered. The CEUs will be worth one credit each, and are free to professional architects and designers who register for the show in advance. This audience will be able to attend the Wood Flooring Expo Trade Show for free as well.
