Johnsonite, the commercial arm of Tarkett and provider of the world’s most integrated high-performance flooring systems, was recently awarded the 2012 Green GOOD DESIGN Award for its iQ vinyl flooring product line, the only resilient flooring that restores itself with dry buffing.

The Green GOOD DESIGN award, sponsored by the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, identifies and emphasizes the world’s most important examples of sustainable design.  Additionally, the program aims to develop a public awareness about which companies are doing the best job in this category.

Johnsonite’s iQ vinyl flooring line, one of hundreds of entries received from 27 nations around the world, features six sustainable flooring solutions to meet the everyday demands of any high-performance environment: iQ Optima Homogeneous Sheet and Tile, iQ Optima Acoustiflor Sheet, iQ Natural Homogenous Sheet, iQ Granit Homogeneous Sheet and Tile, iQ Granit SD Static Dissipative Sheet and Tile, and iQ Toro SC Static Conductive Sheet and Tile.

Developed with an exclusive blend of raw materials iQ flooring provides superior wear and abrasion resistance, plus optimum stain resistance. The homogeneous iQ construction allows the flooring to retain its original beauty over time.  With simple dry-buffing, the surface actually restores itself.

iQ products are phthalate-free.  They require no waxing, polishing or use of protective chemicals, resulting in fewer contaminants in the waste stream, and incorporate 25 percent recycled content.  The products are FloorScore® certified  and also produce TVOC emissions below the level of quantification for better air quality and healthier work environments.

Overall, iQ flooring options offer the lowest cleaning and maintenance cost and the best life-cycle cost of any resilient flooring, all of which result in a viable sustainable flooring solution.

“The iQ Vinyl Flooring line represents Johnsonite’s vision of sustainability and innovative flooring solutions,” said Laurey Banker, director of product management, Johnsonite. “Johnsonite is extremely proud to be a Green GOOD DESIGN Award recipient and strives to continue to develop innovative, sustainable products.”
