Chicago — Gerflor, a manufacture of multipurpose resilient sports flooring, today announced that through agreements with the International Handball Federation and International Federation of Volleyball, Gerflor will supply Taraflex courts for handball and volleyball tournaments during the next Olympic Games (July 27- August 12). Taraflex is the most widely specified sports surface in the world and has been used in nine consecutive Olympic Games starting with Montreal in 1976 to Beijing in 2008 for indoor surfaces like handball, volleyball, badminton and table tennis.

GERFLOR’S OLYMPIC FACTS:

  • Gerflor will supply the indoor flooring sports flooring for the handball and volleyball courts for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London
  • More than 17,500 square meters (188,000 + square feet) of Taraflex Sports Flooring is being installed for Olympic athletes in handball and volleyball to play on
  • Approximately 6,000 square meters (322,900 square feet) of Gerflor’s Helios NT Tarabus flooring will be installed on select double decker buses, while approximately 30,000 square meters (98,000 square feet) of Tarasafe Standard Sport M Evolution flooring will be used in temporary structures.
