Mozelos, Portugal—The shareholders of Amorim Revestimentos S.A./Portugal decided to enlarge its board of directors and appointed Jürgen Früchtenicht from Bremen, Germany as a new member.

In accordance with the company’s objective to strengthen its position on the global market, Amorim Revestimentos S.A. will open a new office on May 2 in Delmenhorst, Germany that will host Amorim’s efforts concerning the trading of timber flooring. Purchasing, sales, product management, marketing, pre- and after-sales services and warehousing will be centralized in the new branch office.

Concerning operational activities, Früchtenicht will assume direct responsibility for the new branch office. “We are glad about the recruitment of Jürgen Früchtenicht and are convinced that we will be able to strengthen our position as a large importer and trader of timber flooring significantly,” said António Cruz, CEO, Amorim Revestimentos S.A.

Früchtenicht worked in business administration over 32 years in the cork- and wood-flooring industry. Until 1996 he served as managing partner of the German trading house Carl Ed. Meyer. The company was bought by Amorim and was later renamed to Amorim Deutschland GmbH. Until 2006, Früchtenicht managed the procurement and product management of Amorim’s timber flooring activities as General Manager of Amorim’s subsidiary Amorim Wood Supplies GmbH. During the last five years, he worked with Amorim as an independent management consultant and represented projects with trade associations and serves today as the President of the European Federation of Parquet Importers in Brussels. In addition, he widened his scope as a specialist for timber flooring as an editor of the German trade magazine Parkett Magazin.
