LIFCA hosts NYU professor to speak on small business

HomeNewsLIFCA hosts NYU professor to speak on small business

Plainview, N.Y.—Ed Abel, adjunct professor of entrepreneurial studies at New York University (NYU) will present Creating Business Harmoney at Four Points here on Sept. 15 at 6:30 pm. The 90 minute seminar is presented by the Long Island Floor Covering Association (LIFCA) but is not specific to the flooring industry. All are welcome.

Abel’s talk focuses on how successful business owners are consistently utilizing strategies, techniques, and practices that anyone can employ in their own business. Most importantly, they understand they must see themselves as a businessperson who sells their skills, what Abel calls a “SkillPreneur,” rather than merely a person-for-hire. Attendees will learn how to shift their mindset towards thinking like a savvy business owner who sells a service and away from the limited belief of a person-for-hire. Additionally, he will outline a step-by-step process and the action steps necessary to further enhance, develop, and grow any business.

Ed Abel has invested more than three decades learning how to build a successful, thriving business. Determined to find a way to educate and advise others in the construction and sustainability of a vital business, he founded Abel Business Institute. Over the course of this process, he developed The SkillPreneur Business System, a systematic approach to the construction, maintenance, and growth of a business.

Abel  is an adjunct professor of entrepreneurial studies at New York University (NYU) as well as the Director of the business division at the world class Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). At iPEC, Ed directs the business division that is responsible for supporting the graduate coaches in their business development process.

LIFCA, based in Patchogue, N.Y., was founded in 1959 to provide educational and networking opportunities to floor covering retailers, flooring contractors, distributors, manufacturers, inspectors and installers. Visit the trade site at LIFCA.com and their consumer website at LIFloor.com.
