HomeNewsShaw sponsors 2012 HGTV Green Home Giveaway

Dalton — Shaw recently announced the company will once again be the exclusive flooring provider and sponsor for the HGTV Green Home Giveaway set for spring 2012. As the flooring partner, Shaw will provide stylish and functional floors from the HGTV HOME Flooring by Shaw collection to be featured in this highly-anticipated show home in the sustainable living community of Serenbe, Ga.

The HGTV Green Home 2012 will carry on a tradition of unique viewer interaction and architectural and design showmanship. Designed by Kemp Hall Studio and built by FrontPorch Builders, the 2012 HGTV Green Home is a modern family farmhouse with a design inspired by Southeastern culture and regional architecture. The flooring selection for the three bedroom, 2.5 bath family home reflects historic quintessential design inspired by a seamless blend of traditional charm and modern appeal.

“Every year, Shaw and HGTV find new and different ways to collaborate but the HGTV Green Home is a consistent project we look forward to year after year,” said Kathy Young, director of marketing for Shaw Floors. “Our consumers are always inspired by the beautiful floors, creativity and design expertise displayed, and we can’t wait to see how they react to this welcoming home in 2012.”

Floors from the HGTV HOME Flooring by Shaw collection provide color, style and design additions for the home this year. The collection consists of carpet, area rug, laminate and hardwood styles. The featured new products include the Anso Nylon carpet in the Snapshot, In the Know, Happy Attitude and Key Element styles. Hardwood floors included Clayton in a Nautilus color and the Epic Hardwood in the new Hudson Bay style. Two area rugs – the Charlotte and Loop De Loop styles – are also included. Tile & stone features include Shaw’s Metropolitan Slate and Brushstone styles. Several additional Shaw floors were included, as well.

The complete HGTV HOME Flooring by Shaw collection is part of the overarching HGTV HOME brand, a complete assortment of branded home products that includes such items as furniture, lighting and paint. The HGTV HOME Flooring by Shaw program grew out of Shaw’s long-standing relationship with HGTV, including its sponsorship of the HGTV Green Home since 2008.

“Serenbe, Georgia offers an excellent backdrop for our fourth annual HGTV Green Home,” said Jim Samples, president of HGTV. “As a community that values environmental preservation and eco-design, the home is inspired by these priorities and will reflect a unique organic approach to design.”

Serenbe, Ga. is set on 1,000 acres located in the Chattahoochee Hills and comprises a community dedicated to green living and environmental awareness. The comfortable, Southern town celebrates eclectic crafts and business, attracting artists, writers, farmers and innovative business people. With tree-canopied trails, a neighborhood amphitheater, equestrian center and residents who celebrate music and the arts, Serenbe offers a unique and creative lifestyle. All 1,000 acres are protected with a master plan that calls for 80 percent green space, ensuring that the growing community will be protected for years to come.

HGTV viewers and Shaw fans can enter for a chance to win the approximately 2,300-square-foot home in Serenbe this spring when the HGTV Green Home Giveaway opens for entries from April 12 through June 1, 2012. More information about Serenbe and the giveaway is available at HGTV.com/greenhome.

“Serenbe offered a perfect opportunity to bring the HGTV Green Home back to the Southeast, which encouraged us to merge a more modern approach to design with the reliable rustic charm of the south,” said Jack Thomasson, HGTV House Planner. “We were inspired by the green community and focus on lessening the human footprint that Serenbe, Georgia is known for.”

Starting April 2, fans can visit HGTV.com for a virtual tour of the home.

Participation in projects like the HGTV Green Home is reflective of Shaw’s commitment to sustainability leadership through the Shaw Green Edge – a company-wide business platform based on sustainability through innovation.
