Armstrong Commercial Flooring launches Striations, its next generation of non-PVC, Biobased Tile, along with two new premium tiles with enhanced environmental and performance features – Raffia and Chromaspin in beautiful designs that combine aesthetics, function and value.

The Armstrong design studio has assembled a rich and diverse mix, including tactile effects, different size formats and attractive colors. A true breakthrough in resilient tile design, the new collections mingle traditional and original visuals to breathe new life into the commercial flooring sector.

These contemporary, stylish floor coverings are both ecologically sound and economical.  Armstrong’s new Striations BBT will change the way designers look at premium tile forever.  Striations is as easy on the eyes as it is on the environment.  The linear visual suggests a textile appearance in a 12″x24″ format that helps hide seams.  It’s perfect for healthcare, hospitality, office and retail interiors.

Armstrong Striations

Striations’ essential polymer ingredient, BioStride, is made with a domestically grown, rapidly renewable plant source. So BBT reduces reliance on petroleum and fossil fuels while it expands the affordability of green to commercial projects.  In addition to the enhanced range of green benefits, Striations, like Migrations, Armstrong’s original Biobased Tile, provides equal or better performance over standard composition tile.  It has twice the indent resistance and more than five times greater impact resistance of standard composition tile – all at an affordable cost.  True through-pattern construction provides extended floor life.  BBT has received an enthusiastic reception from designers for schools, healthcare, mass retail and any other commercial space that requires a long-lasting, good-looking, economical and easy-to-maintain flooring solution. Made in the USA in Armstrong’s Jackson, Mississippi plant, the product contains at least 60% content from U.S. sources and 10% pre-consumer recycled content (recycled limestone).

“Armstrong offers a range of flooring options for the environmentally-conscious purchaser.  We continue to research and develop new products that have reduced environmental impact while improving the performance of our products. These new introductions increase selection of products that meet the cost, performance and environmental criteria of our customers,” said Julianne Pierce, director, Marketing & Design.

Raffia stretches the imagination. It instantly softens a room with it gorgeous, subtle and silky colorways. Its unique 12”x24” rectangular format offers a linear visual in tonal steps, using Armstrong’s exclusive Continuum. Continuum is the color and design system that uses a simple, organized tonal step system and cross connected colors with different product types to help optimize color selections across Armstrong’s entire portfolio of commercial flooring products. Continuum unites hue, value and chroma to help save time when specifying. Raffia also contains recycled content. Made in the USA (Jackson, Mississippi), Raffia contains at least 80% content from U.S. sources.

Chromaspin offers a new spin on colors, recognizing today’s key trends in building construction and interior design. Armstrong carves out yet another great, familiar visual in a variety of favorite tonal step colors.  The traditional 12″x12″ visual comes in a variety of colors to match existing floors and surfaces. ChromaSpin offers an exciting, familiar, chromatic visual in 32 different color spins with consistency in visual from color to color and tile to tile. This 12″x12″ VCT tile has the same gauge – 1/8” – as current BBT and LVT floors, so installation is easy.

The three collections help architects and designers to express their aesthetical and functional priorities in new and exciting ways. Plus, each offers solid benefits from installation, low maintenance and the proven performance of Armstrong products.  And, all three have enhanced environmental attributes from recycled content to BioBased, non-PVC composition, in exciting choices that are beautiful and budget friendly.

Armstrong’s broad portfolio of Commercial Floor products lets customers choose from a wide variety of green, greener and greenest solutions.  They include Migrations BBT, linoleum, LVT, commercial hardwood, sheet, VCT and specialty flooring – all of which contribute to or comply with at least one LEED requirement.  All Armstrong resilient products are FloorScore Certified and independently tested and certified for compliance with California section 01350 for low VOC emissions and can comply with credit EQ4.3 for low emitting adhesives.  In addition, all products can be installed using adhesives that comply with LEED credit EQ4.1 for low emitting adhesives
