Armstrong Commercial Flooring continues to win Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX), with the latest being for its Striations BioBased Tile (BBT) and Raffia premium vinyl composition tile (VCT).

“We are honored to receive the ADEX awards for our Striations BBT and Raffia VCT products,” said Patricia Fanty, commercial marketing manager, Armstrong.  “These awards are voted on by the design community and it is confirmation that our products align with the current demands of the market. Receiving this distinction is a testament to Armstrong’s passion for developing industry-leading designs and innovations.”

Striations BBT, a winner in the Platinum category, with a stylish, linear visual in a non-PVC format, continues to garner praise among designers and architects alike for its game-changing combination of sustainability, durability and affordability.  The collection presents a blend of beauty and performance, with unlimited options to create sophisticated flooring designs. This BioBased Tile, the only one on the market today to meet ASTM F2982, contains rapidly renewable U.S. grown plant materials and features 10% pre-consumer recycled content. Striations is FloorScore certified and is eligible for Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design (LEED) points in four categories, including EQ4.3 (low emitting material), MR 4.0 (recycled content), MR Credit 6.0 for rapidly renewable resources, and MR Credit 5.0 for regional materials depending on project location.

In the Silver ADEX award category, Raffia confirmed the design community’s desire for a premium VCT tile that contains both pre- and post-consumer content. Raffia stretches the imagination by instantly softening a room with its subtle and silky colorways. Its unique 12”x24” rectangular format offers a linear visual in tonal steps. Raffia is manufactured at Armstrong’s Jackson, Miss., plant, which is both a manufacturing and recycling facility. Armstrong’s new VCT Reclamation Program reclaims VCT from the market during renovations, enabling the material to be diverted from entering landfills. These reclaimed products are then used to make products like the unique Raffia premium tile.

Both products secured top honors from the ADEX program, which is sponsored by Design Journal magazine and draws approximately 2,000 entries from 500 companies each year.  The ADEX competition is the largest and most prestigious awards program for product design of furniture, fixtures and finishes. Awards are judged on form and function. An anonymous panel of professionals representing a cross section of the design industry conducts all voting for the ADEX Awards. ADEX judges are among the ablest in their respective areas of expertise and so the ADEX Award represents the best product designs of the year in the opinion of those at the top of their specialty. Each category has potential for three award levels of Platinum, Gold or Silver, with Platinum being the highest any product can earn.

Armstrong has won numerous ADEX awards over the years, including last year for Rejuvenations sheet vinyl flooring which won Silver, Gold and Platinum ADEX for three different patterns, as well as ADEX Gold for Natural Creations Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT).  Past and present Armstrong winners can be viewed at https://designjournalmag.com/companies/detail/107-armstrong-commercial-flooring.
