Boston—Karastan recently partnered with Massachusetts-based retailer Landry & Arcari in its sponsorship of the 5 Under 40 Awards here, which recognizes the top five emerging designers under the age of 40 in New England.  The winners were honored at a celebratory reception held at Landry & Arcari’s downtown Boston showroom.

The winners of 5 Under 40 were nominated by their peers and then selected by an all-star panel of regional designers. The designers are forerunners in their fields, turning heads with their design work in the realm of interiors, architecture, landscape, furniture, home design products and accessories.

“Since 2010, we have collaborated with New England Home Magazine to host this awards program and highlight the hottest emerging talent of residential design in New England,” said Landry & Arcari’s president Jerry Arcari. “We were pleased to have Karastan along side us as we celebrated the incredible work of these talented young professionals. It was an honor to host them in our showroom and welcome them into Boston’s esteemed design community.”

Over the course of six months, each of the five winners designed a rug, which was hand-woven on Landry & Arcari’s GoodWeave-certified looms in Nepal.  The completed rugs were displayed at a 5 Under 40 Awards ceremony and then auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting The Barakat Society, a Cambridge, Mass.-based charity that works to empower education in women and children in the Indian weaving communities.

“The values of the Karastan brand are brought to life at events like the 5 Under 40 Awards,” said Courtney Jones, Karastan regional manager Northeast and mid-Atlantic  “Landry  & Arcari involved us in all the evening festivities and featured our carpets throughout their showroom. It was a privilege to join Boston’s most esteemed designers in honoring this year’s 5 Under 40 winners.
