HomeNewsNTCA announces new president

The National Tile Contractors Association (NTCA) would like to thank president Nyle Wadford for his outstanding service to the tile industry and the association. Wadford, president of Neuse Tile Service in Youngville, N.C., is in the process of finishing his two-year term as NTCA president. Under his leadership, along with the support of the NTCA Executive Committee and Board of Directors, the association has experienced record growth in one of the most challenging economic periods in recent history. In addition, several association initiatives have been accomplished.

Highlights of Wadford’s presidency include a historic partnership between the NTCA and the Tile Contractors Association of America in efforts to promote specifying and recommending qualified labor in the tile industry. These efforts have resulted in additions to the TCNA Handbook, MasterSpec and other national specifications. Furthermore, the NTCA Five Star Contractor Program has grown considerably, and is poised to make a significant impact in the trade.

Wadford will hand over the presidential gavel to Dan Welch at the NTCA Annual Meeting at Total Solutions Plus. Planned and promoted by the CTDA, NTCA and Tile Council of North America, Total Solutions Plus will be held October 27-30 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Welch is the president of Welch Tile and Marble in Grand Rapids, Mich., and has demonstrated his unique leadership and passion for the tile trade in many association programs. One of Welch’s main contributions is his continued support of certification through the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation. A major association effort is taking place to further develop certification and Welch is expected to be one of the champions of this initiative during his presidency.

Rounding out the NTCA Executive Committee will be former president and chairman of the board John Cox of Cox Tile, Inc. in San Antonio and first vice president James Woelfel of Artcraft Granite Marble and Tile in Phoenix. Cox and Woelfel have been recognized as NTCA Tile Persons of the Year for their efforts to grow the NTCA into the leading association it has become. The incoming member of the Executive Committee will be Martin Howard, vice president of the David Allen Company, which has several locations in the Southeast and Washington D.C. area.
