Atlanta—John Wells, president/CEO of Interface Americas, has been appointed to join the Ray Anderson Foundation’s advisory board. “We’re grateful to John for his willingness to help advance Ray’s legacy through the foundation,” said John Lanier, the foundation’s director. “John’s enthusiasm, sharp intellect, and his role with Ray’s beloved Interface will add so much value to the group.”

“Ray’s legacy is a powerful gift that he left for us all to share,” said Wells. “The best way to honor him is to continue to progress with his vision. I’m honored to be able to do that through Interface, and now also through the foundation that bears his name and his promise to future generations.”

Wells joined Interface in 1994, just months before Anderson had his now-famous “epiphany” and worked closely with Anderson to put the programs and metrics in place to help Interface achieve its sustainability mission.

Under Wells’ leadership, the Interface Americas business has expanded into an industry leader, providing modular carpet products to retail, hospitality, healthcare, education, and institutional/government segments, and also to consumers through the company’s retail brand, FLOR.

Through the years, Wells has been a champion in developing and articulating Interface’s Mission Zero brand promise both internally and to the world—a promise to eliminate any negative impact the company has on the environment by 2020.

In addition to his service on the advisory board, Wells has served on the Carpet and Rug Institute’s (CRI’s) board since 2005, and was the CRI board chair in 2012. He serves on the Georgia Tech Foundation’s board of trustees and has also served on the board of trustees for the Lovett School since 2010.

The Ray Anderson Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that seeks to promote a sustainable society by supporting and funding educational and project-based initiatives that advance knowledge and innovation in sustainability. Anderson was the Founder and Chairman of Interface, the parent company of Interface Americas.
