Surfaces receives patents for peel & stick technology

HomeNewsSurfaces receives patents for peel & stick technology

Miami, Fla.—After ongoing and highly focused research & development programs combined with four years of intense work with the U.S. and Trademark Office, Surfaces has been granted two key patents covering peel & stick tile production and application.

Surfaces’ peel & stick installation process is designed to make affixing mesh-mounted mosaic tiles easy.

According to Paul Young, CEO of Surfaces, “We believe that the future for this very easy, do-it-yourself process is very bright and as a result, we continue to invest in technologies, designs and patents within this area.” The two news patent issued by the USPTO cover both the production method of peel & stick mosaic tiles as well as the application (installation) method, further strengthening Surfaces’ place as the leader in the field of peel & stick mosaics.

Previously, Surfaces teamed up with the DIY Network, successfully bringing market awareness to the peel & stick method for the installation of glass mosaic backsplash tile. This was of such great interest, that it was nationally broadcast on a number of home improvement television shows such as “Cool Tools,” “I Hate My Kitchen,” “House Crashers,” “Kitchen Impossible,” “Bath Crashers,” “Run My Renovation” and  “Bathtastic!”

That marketing collaboration included the licensing agreement of a unique, all-inclusive installation “kit,” which offered everything necessary to make it easy for any homeowner to install a glass mosaic backsplash in a matter of hours. This kit (which also has a patent pending) went on to be inventoried and successfully sold at two of North America’s major national retailers.

“With colorful glass mosaics being the material of choice for today’s kitchen backsplashes,” continued Young, “our peel & stick tile production and application patents offer savvy tile marketers a true comfort zone, ensuring them that their customers can now be offered high-end tile products that are easily installed by just about anyone.”

Not only does Surfaces’ state-of-the-art peel & stick installation process make affixing mesh-mounted mosaic tiles extremely easy; it completely eliminates the messiness of having to apply adhesive directly to one’s wall. With no adhesive or untidy powders to mix, users simply peel the protective film from the back of the glass, affix the mosaic onto the wall, grout, clean and then enjoy their new backsplash.

Albert Claramonte, president and founder of Surfaces, summed up by saying, “This is the future. Our research has shown us what the public wants. And, our patents guarantee that what they want… will be of the highest quality.”
