White Plains, N.Y.—Following the success of Surtex 2013, GLM announces Surtex 2014 dates, significant event highlights and an exciting new marketing campaign—all aimed to inspire the surface design and licensing community worldwide.

The three-day event is scheduled to return to the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York from May 18 to May 20, 2014, in a bigger footprint to accommodate the anticipated increase in participants from around the world. Positioned on the main level of the Javits Center, Surtex will be comprised of some 325 exhibiting artists, designers, studios, agencies and design resources—representing approximately 10% growth. Anticipated attendance will exceed 6,000 art buyers and licensees from more than 50 countries.

Categorized into three main areas to meet the distinct needs of manufacturers and retailers seeking surface designs for product development, the show offers participants the most productive and enjoyable environment in which to do business. Successfully introduced last year, the Atelier will bring nearly 100 of the world’s top textile studios and designers to the forefront, all of which sell their collections outright to a diversity of industries, including textiles.

In addition, over 200 exhibitors will be offering artwork and unique brands for license. And ReSource Hub will present a plethora of design and business tools for both exhibitors and attendees to enhance their productivity.

As the only B2B event catering to design needs of virtually every product category, Surtex will draw more than 6,000 attendees from industries including textiles, wall coverings, home furnishings, floor coverings, greeting cards, social stationery, housewares, tabletop, paper products, beauty, packaging, giftware and more.

“Art buyers and licensees rely on Surtex to source the latest trend-forward collections to ensure successful sales of their products,” said GLM vice president and Surtex show manager, Penny Sikalis. “And as added value, the show offers more than just exhibit space—it serves as a complete marketplace with valuable events and resources designed for both the exhibitor and attendee.”

Capping off the core focus of the show, on-site activities include a popular conference program of 10 to 12 information-filled educational sessions spearheaded by industry gurus, an inspirational on-floor Trend Theatre offering ongoing complimentary presentations from the world’s top trend forecasters, designext student competition displays, and a host of social networking events. Details about each will be announced in the months ahead.

Exhibitors and attendees will be treated to an exciting new marketing campaign leading up to the show, while also inspiring the design community from all perspectives—licensor, licensee, artist, designer, studio, agent, manufacturer, retailer, and product developer. With a focus on distinctive design, the cohesive campaign will highlight the unique business benefits of Surtex with visually exciting images, trend-forward colors, prints and patterns.

Ongoing communications will feature the unparalleled year-round marketing support for show exhibitors, as well as special services for all market participants, including discounted hotel rates, complimentary shuttle services, private meeting rooms, and much more.
