Emeryville, Calif. — SCS Global Services (SCS), a leader in third-party sustainability certification, announced its platinum-level certification of Metroflor’s new luxury vinyl tile (LVT) product, Aspecta to the NSF/ANSI 332 “Sustainability Assessment Standard for Resilient Flooring.” Platinum is the highest level of achievement recognized under the standard.

“This certification attests to Metroflor’s commitment to reducing the environmental and social impacts associated with its flooring products,” said Carl Cothran, manager of flooring services at SCS. “Metroflor has a thorough environmental management system in place and has addressed all of the major requirements of the standard, from reducing energy consumption, water use and waste to fair labor practices for employees.”

Under this widely recognized industry standard, resilient flooring products are evaluated for environmental performance and sustainability attributes in five key areas: product design, manufacturing, long-term value, corporate governance and innovation.  Performance is scored on a 100-point scale.

“The sustainability assessment conducted by SCS builds on our FloorScore certification for indoor air quality and other environmental initiatives,” said Harlan Stone, chairman and global CEO of Aspecta.  “As a company, sustainability is a core part of how we do business, and we are continually improving our environmental performance and social responsibility.”

Aspecta is a new global LVT brand developed by Metroflor. It was developed based on consultation with architects, designers and contractors to outperform current market offerings from an aesthetic as well as practical perspective. The product will be officially launched at the upcoming NeoCon conference in Chicago from June 9-11.
