Armstrong introduces its releasable vinyl adhesive

HomeNewsArmstrong introduces its releasable vinyl adhesive

Lancaster, Pa—Armstrong introduced a full spread, releasable adhesive for its residential vinyl-backed sheet flooring installations, including fiberglass.

The pressure-sensitive S-289 adhesive is a less permanent bonding option for easy repair or change and reduces the remodel workload in rental units, condominiums or other frequent replacement properties. While it has a strong, initial grip that reduces product shifting, it permits repositioning and easy adjustment during installation. It also allows easy removal of the flooring at any time, without tearing the floor covering’s backing or damaging the floor’s substrate.

“Armstrong’s CushionStep, StrataMax and FlexStep flooring can be installed by three different methods, giving installers a variety of alternatives, from easy-in-easy-out loose lay to traditional full-spread installation to releasable adhesives,” said Stephan Chmielewski, product manager for Installation, Maintenance & Accessories. “Part of the reason for using fiberglass or StrataMax floors is to be able to remove them easily, whether it’s for a change of décor or a simple replacement, so a releasable adhesive, when warranted, is a must [especially] as a low-VOC option.”

Armstrong adhesives are environmentally preferable because of low VOC emissions and low odor, and can contribute to LEED points for certified projects.

Armstrong is extending visual branding to its installation, maintenance and accessory line of products, and is introducing a new package design for the S-289 adhesive. The new design will help customers more easily identify Armstrong products.

Chmielewski said Armstrong is committed to providing choices to its dealers that help make their jobs easier and contribute to the bottom line.

As a single-source partner, Armstrong offers an extensive, integrated portfolio of floors in a variety of visuals, colors and textures to meet specific design, performance, maintenance, and installation and budget requirements.

“Dealing with one resource has obvious benefits,” Chmielewski added. “For many customers, the biggest advantage is that it is easier:  Easier to do business, easier to order, easier to manage quality control and easier to learn the product line.”
