Laticrete’s Shanghai facility gets ISO 140 certification

HomeNewsLaticrete's Shanghai facility gets ISO 140 certification

Bethany, Conn.—The Laticrete manufacturing facility in Shanghai, opened in the spring of 2008, has been certified ISO 14001 for its design and implementation of a proven environmental management system that reduces energy costs and waste while minimizing negative impact on the environment. The core set of standards and guidelines have evolved slowly since 1972 and the certification is now rewarded based on a comprehensive on-site audit by the International Organization for Standardization.

Laticrete’s CEO and chairman, David Rothberg, referred to the certification as “another special milestone in continuing the philosophy developed and practiced by our founder Dr. Henry M. Rothberg.”

Executives with the 56-year-old tile and stone installation materials manufacturer said producing safe, environmentally-friendly products that were healthy for tile and stone contractors to install and distributors to warehouse was an important goal from the beginning.

The company provides these installation materials certified by GreenGuard here in the U.S., based on criteria used by the U.S. EPA, OSHA, and the LEED program of the U.S. Green Building Council.
