Washington, D.C.—NALFA was approached by the popular television show Designing Spaces for a six show special that will air from June – Aug. of 2013.  “Designing Spaces of Hope” is dedicated to raising awareness about distinct causes that relate to American children and families who are in need of safe, healthy, and loving environments.  The Boys and Girls Club in Pompano Beach, Fla. is one of the six locations featured on the show.

“We were thrilled to initiate the relationship between Designing Spaces and our membership,” says Bill Dearing, president of NALFA.  “NALFA is recognized as the ‘go-to’ in the laminate flooring industry for information, and, in this case, we can help make the lives better for young people in Pompano.”

The Designing Spaces remodel included a new woodworking shop with a new floor, a math lab and video game room.  The new floor was made possible by donations from NALFA members PERGO that donated 1007 square feet of laminate flooring and trim, and DMX Plastics, Ltd.  that   donated moisture barrier to Designing Spaces for use at the Boys and Girls Club in Pompano Beach.  The club is the hangout of over 600 kids in the area.

“The laminate flooring made the space feel warm and artsy and took away the institutional feel of the previous floor,” says Jennifer Pennick, associate producer for Designing Spaces.  “Laminate flooring was perfect for this heavy use area and it’s great that if the kids spill paint it can simply be peeled off!”
