DALTON—J&J Industries has completed the acquisition of Templeton Hospitality Carpet. Templeton, established in 1974, manufactures and supplies carpet to the hospitality market segment with a focus on public spaces, guest rooms and corridors. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

The Templeton acquisition “significantly expands the re- sources of the corporation to deliver a comprehensive commercial soft surface offering that can satisfy any contract customer,” said David Jolly, J&J’s president and CEO, who believes that with the purchase, the company’s overall business will increase in 2011 anywhere from “10% to 15%.”

There were several reasons for the acquisition, he noted. “The hospitality market is at an all-time low currently; we’ve been looking to move into this segment for about the past three years; and, this opportunity presented itself at this particular time. We are always interested in other business opportunities that fit our culture and bring value to our corporation and our customers.”

The new hospitality brand will appear in the marketplace as J+J/Templeton. Steve Hillis will lead the sales, marketing and design teams for J+J/ Templeton, while Gary Horton will lead all production-related operations for the division.

“We look forward to entering the hospitality carpet market with a proven brand like Templeton,” Jolly said. “With J&J’s many resources and Templeton’s segment expertise, we are confident we have a solid foundation to build J+J/Templeton into a significant player in the hospitality arena through high-styled broadloom and modular carpet offerings.”

J+J/Templeton will continue operations at its current location in Dalton. However, the company will have access to the many manufacturing resources of J&J Industries, including fiber extrusion, yarn processing, broadloom and modular finishing. Such resources make J+J/Templeton one of the few hospitality brands that is vertically integrated with full manufacturing and quality control.

In addition, according to Jolly, all employees associated with the purchased business “were brought over to J&J, approximately 50 folks total.”
