Calhoun, Ga. — Mohawk announced that it is a finalist in the Metro Atlanta Chamber’s E3 environmental awards for Atlanta area businesses.

The E3 Awards highlight the companies, organizations and individuals working to conserve metro Atlanta’s natural resources, develop clean technologies, support sustainable projects and initiatives, and collaborate on solutions through university connections, marketing and education.

Overall, applications from more than 120 companies, organizations and individuals were submitted for seven award categories. Mohawk was selected as one of three finalists for the Clean Tech Innovation Award, recognizing it recycling efforts within both its residential and commercial business divisions.  Mohawk ranks among the leading recyclers of plastic bottles in North America, which are used to make carpet.

Mohawk invested $180 million in Northwest Georgia as a result of the patented Continuum Process, which produces a higher quality product, the company said. The production of Mohawk’s PET offerings diverts over three billion bottles from landfills annually.

On the commercial side, over 500 products contain recycled content. Additionally, Mohawk Group’s ReCover program offers its customers an easy way to recycle their old carpet through an established network of reclamation partners across the U.S.
