Crossville, Tenn. — Executives with Crossville Inc., a domestic manufacturer of porcelain tile collections, announced the unveiling of the company’s 2014 Sustainability Report. The report was compiled with input from Crossville’s stakeholders as gleaned through a formal survey and follow-up discussions conducted by a third party sustainability consulting firm and is based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) sustainability reporting and ISO 26001 frameworks.

Additionally, it meets the requirements of LEED V.4 MRc3 Credit. This is the first such sustainability report in the company’s 28-year history, and it is also the first GRI-based document released by a tile-only manufacturer, denoting a significant milestone for the tile industry.

“Throughout our company’s 28-year history, we have led in environmental and social practices. It’s fundamental to how we do business and manufacture our products,” said John Smith, president of Crossville Inc. “This report is a comprehensive compilation of the many measurable aspects of our sustainability initiatives. It will serve as a resource for our customers in the design and building communities and—hopefully—be a standard-bearer for our industry.”

The report is divided into key areas of sustainable accomplishment for Crossville: design, waste management, operations, energy consumption. In adherence with G4 requirements as defined by GRI, the report provides a full GRI Index so that those who reference the document may readily access key data and details.

Nashville-based WAP Sustainability Consulting led in creation of the report, ensuring all data is presented with utmost transparency in adherence to GRI’s G4 standards while meeting LEED V.4 MRc3 Credit requirements, as well.

“We sought the expertise of a third party firm to deepen the value and transparency of the information in this report,” said Lindsey Waldrep, Crossville’s vice president of marketing. “This level of reporting is imperative for substantiating the data and details we measure and maintain in-house. It’s truly exciting to now be able to share the findings with our stakeholders, our industry, and the broader marketplace.”
