HomeNewsMannington wins appeal in copyright infringement case

Salem, N.J.—Mannington Mills has won its appeal of a district court’s grant of summary judgment against Mannington in a copyright infringement case involving Home Legend.

In a judgment handed down by Chief Judge Ed Carnes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit in Montgomery, Ala., Mannington’s designs for laminate Glazed Maple flooring were found to be “sufficiently original to qualify for copyright protection.”

“We are pleased with the 11th Circuit’s ruling in this case,” said Dan Natkin, senior director of residential products at Mannington. “We bear all of the risk in the development and marketing of new designs and we copyright them to protect our intellectual property.”
