September 14/21; Volume 30/Number 7

St. Louis, Mo.—The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) has established four new Legacy Scholarships funded by member contributions in honor of four individuals who have made a significant impact on the association and contributed to the advancement of the wood flooring industry. Bob Anderson, Joe Boone, Jr., Jack Coates and Bill Price, Sr., will join more than a dozen other legacies honored through this scholarship program.

Bob Anderson, founder of Anderson Hardwood Floors, a Shaw brand, was one of the pioneers of the engineered hardwood business in America. He was also one of the founding members of NWFA. Joe Boone, Jr., served on several NWFA committees including marketing and public relations, events, Internet technology and membership. He also held NWFA craftsman, master craftsman, advanced master craftsman, ambassador and vanguard degrees, and was a frequent instructor at NWFA training events.

Jack Coates was an NWFA founding father and a strong proponent of industry education, serving on numerous NWFA committees and on the NWFA board of directors. He was inducted into the NWFA Hall of Fame in 1994. Bill Price, Sr., was an original NWFA board member, the original convention program committee chairman and taught at various industry training events.

Scholarships help the NWFA keep training costs to a minimum for participants. They are designed to provide opportunities for people who are new to the industry and for those who want to advance their professional skills and knowledge. The Legacy Scholarship Program was originally created in 2013 in honor of Bob Haggard, NWFA board member and industry leader.

Each Legacy Scholarship is established with a minimum of $5,000, which allows the fund to be named after the benefactor. Scholarships are awarded based on interest earned through investment of the funds. Scholarship recipients will receive a letter from the family of the person for whom the fund is named, summarizing that individual’s contributions to the industry.

Contributions can be made at member.nwfa.org/donations/. To nominate an individual for a named NWFA Legacy Scholarship and for more information about the Legacy Scholarship program, visit nwfa.org/legacyscholarship.aspx.
