The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) will be hosting a national online dialogue to provide employers and employees with an opportunity to offer their perspective on the implementation of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), the Act that required two weeks of paid sick pay and 10 weeks of paid family leave in certain circumstances. The information and suggestions presented will impact the application of the FFCRA.

The World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) said it will assist its members in ensuring their concerns are heard. “Please let us know your needs and concerns ASAP so we can pass them along to DOL,” Scott Humphrey, CEO of the WFCA, wrote to members. “The time to have your voice heard is now.”

This national online dialogue provides an opportunity for employers and workers to play a key role in shaping the development of the DOL’s compliance assistance materials and outreach strategies related to the implementation of FFCRA. WHD will use the ideas and comments gathered from this dialogue to develop compliance assistance guidance, resources and tools, as well as outreach approaches that assist employers and workers in understanding their responsibilities and rights under the paid leave provisions of the FFCRA.

“This innovative national online dialogue seeks input from key stakeholders about the best ways we can help employers and workers understand their responsibilities and rights under the FFCRA in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Wage and Hour Division administrator, Cheryl Stanton. “It’s an important discussion that will allow the Wage and Hour Division to develop compliance assistance materials that are responsive to the evolving needs of American employers and workers.”
The department’s Office of Compliance Initiatives (OCI), in partnership with The department’s Wage and Hour Division and the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), will host the online dialogue. Employers/employees have until March 29, 2020, to submit comments. Those interested can participate online here from now through March 29, 2020, or can join a Twitter chat hosted by @ePolicyWorks on March 25, 2020, at 2 p.m. using the hashtag #EPWChat.
