Dalton—Tandus Centiva has released the first in a series of videos highlighting the design inspiration behind the company’s floor coverings and the people and technologies that create beautiful and functional products. The first video features award-winning textile and flooring designer, Suzanne Tick, principal of Suzanne Tick Inc., who has served as design director and collaborated with Tandus Centiva since 2005.
Suzanne TickDrawing inspiration from art, fashion, architecture and the world around her, Tick is a lifelong artist who creates in several mediums. The video explores her design process from inspiration to conception with HalfTone, a new style for Tandus.
Leveraging the large-scale design capability of the company’s Stratatec tufting machines, the expansive repeating stripe in HalfTone achieves a powerful effect using simple gradients throughout the length of the pattern. Secondary perpendicular lines are threaded into the pattern to create the optical effect of a halftone print.
