Since 1981, the Floor Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF) has been assisting flooring members who are faced with catastrophic illnesses, life-altering injuries and severe disabilities. Since its founding, the group has distributed more than $7 million in grants. Beneficiaries include flooring retailers, installers, retail salespeople, distributor personnel, mill employees and industry executives.
Behind every FCIF grant, is a story of a real person who is fighting one of the hardest battles of their life.
In the video, FCIF leaders Scott Humphrey, vice chairman and CEO of the World Floor Covering Association; Keith Campbell, treasurer and chairman at Mannington; and Charlie Dilks, chairman and chief product officer at CCA Global, discuss the importance of the FCIF’s mission.
“The FCIF was created by visionaries in the flooring industry who saw the ned to help those who had helped us,” said Scott Humphrey, vice chairman, FCIF, and CEO of the World Floor Covering Association. “Our industry exists on the back of people who have committed their life to what we do, and we feel the need to give back. FCIF allows people who have catastrophic illness to come to us, and we step in and help whenever we can.”
Humphrey added that today the need is greater. “We’re starting to see people who have been impacted by COVID-19; maybe not directly, but in some way it has impacted their financial status. I tell people, this is the feel good part of my job. It allows me to forget all the stress and say, ‘OK, now I have the opportunity to give back.’ And that’s truly what FCIF is.”
