Dalton — Training magazine, the leading business publication for learning and development professionals, has released its annual “Top 125” rankings for training organizations. Mohawk Industries placed number 4 on the prestigious list, higher than any other flooring manufacturer. This is the seventh straight year Training magazine has recognized Mohawk for its commitment to corporate-sponsored learning and development, and it marks Mohawk’s highest ranking to date. Last year, the company ranked number 18.

“It is an incredible honor to have Training magazine once again recognize our corporate training efforts, and we are absolutely delighted to place so high on this elite list,” said Mike Zoellner, vice president of marketing services, at Mohawk. “Retailer education is an important piece of Mohawk’s comprehensive training program. We believe this ranking shows that we offer our retailer partners the very best training, education and business management resources available, regardless of industry, through Mohawk University.”

The official ranking positions were unveiled Monday, at the Training 2012 Conference and Expo in Atlanta, Ga. The “Top 125” ranking criteria were more stringent than in previous years. Those with the publication say Training magazine required even more specific evidence of the effectiveness of training programs and their role in the achievement of corporate strategic goals.

“To rank fourth when the evaluation process is at its most rigorous is a valuable benchmark for our organization,” added Zoellner. “It lets us know that we are on the right track with our newest Mohawk University offerings that focus on improving retail store profitability. This is where will continue to focus our efforts in the future to further empower Mohawk retailers.”

Lorri Freifeld, editor-in-chief of Training magazine, echoed the importance of training to companies in today’s challenging marketplace.

“Training Top 125 companies realize how vital training is to their success and continue to invest in it,” said Freifeld. Mohawk’s investment in training is also the focus of an in-depth profile published in the latest issue of Training magazine. Only the five highest ranking companies received this special recognition.

Mohawk’s high ranking places the company in an elite group of organizations. Among the world’s largest and best known organizations that also made the “Top 125” were UPS, Microsoft, Edward Jones, Best Buy, BB&T, Wells Fargo, Nationwide Insurance, FedEx, Bank of America, MetLife, Intel and ADP. Verizon ranked number 1.
