West Bloomfield, Mich.—Online registration is open for the Flooring Contractors Association’s (FCICA) mid-year meeting in Florence, Ala., Oct. 3 to 5, at fcica.com.

The meeting’s educational sessions include the following:

•“Welding Systems—Tools & Techniques.” Different welding methods for resilient flooring will be demonstrated by representatives of Flexco/Roppe, Nora Systems and Johnsonite.

•“Application of Self-Levelers,” which covers substrate identification, proper preparation, moisture mitigation and the importance of priming prior to self-leveling.

•“The Risk of Excluding Initial Floor Maintenance,” will point out each mill has specific initial maintenance requirements for its product to perform to specification and to validate its warranty.

•“Is Your Concrete Concrete? Avoiding Failures When the Floor Might Be Gypcrete, Fly Ash Concrete or a Lightweight Aggregate” will discuss the different types of “concrete” substrates one might run into, how to identify and understand them and, most importantly, how to install over it.
