Calhoun, Ga.—Mohawk’s new hardwood, UltraWood, was featured in Green Builder’s “Hot 50 Products” list. The list highlights energy efficient product innovations.

“We are delighted to have such immediate validation of UltraWood as an ultimate performance hardwood floor,” said Seth Arnold, vice president of marketing, wood and laminate. “Green Builder has an incredibly high standard for their product choices, and we have an equally high standard for performance. So, being included in the Hot 50 Products list is a meaningful recognition of Mohawk’s commitment to creating long-lasting products.”

UltraWood includes Mohawk’s new Everlast hardwood protection system and its patented WetProtect technology and EasyClean. Additionally, UltraWood is domestically produced at the company’s Danville, Va. facility, reducing the carbon footprint and contributing to the local community, the company said.

UltraWood is also SCS FloorScore certified, which means that it was independently certified by SCS to comply with the volatile organic compound emissions criteria of the California Section 01250 Program. Any product that has met the stringent standards is a product that will contribute to good indoor air quality, the company said.

Mohawk also indicated that indoor air quality is important because if homeowners are spending more time breathing poor-quality air, they could be facing a higher risk level for a variety of health problems, including headaches, dizziness and other long-term conditions. According to Mohawk, the FloorScore certification means UltraWood contributes to healthier, cleaner air in homes.

In addition to UltraWood making the Hot 50 list, Mohawk said it received the best Green Builder Media Brand Index score in the flooring category. The score is based on survey data on how Green Builder’s readers rank each company’s sustainability, how favorably consumers see the company and positive mentions.
