DALTON—The Mohawk Group announced Susan Curtis recently joined the organization, as  senior director of color and design. Curtis is a highly respected textile designer with more than 20 years experience in the commercial flooring industry. As the head of the commercial design team, Curtis will work to conceive, cultivate and launch new product offerings.

“Susan’s talent and commercial flooring expertise can’t be overstated,” said Steve Powers, vice president of product development at Mohawk. “Her cutting-edge vision is going to take The Mohawk Group to the next level in terms of design, technology and customization. We are delighted to have Susan as a leader on our team.”

Most recently, Curtis supervised product development for Invista, helping engineer many of the company’s latest fiber technologies. Prior to that, she worked as creative director for Atlas Carpet Mills and director of product development for Bentley Carpet Mills.

“As a veteran of the commercial flooring industry, I can say with certainty that this is an exciting time to be part of The Mohawk Group,” said Curtis, when asked about her new role. “The commercial design team is very strong. We are well on our way to developing unprecedented designs and unique concepts that will expand The Mohawk Group’s product offerings and bring added value to our customers.”

Curtis received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textile Design from Syracuse University. She also has a degree in Interior Architecture from California State University, Long Beach.
