Stoughton, Mass.—Mats Inc. and Windmöller Flooring Products said they have developed an entirely new class of commercial flooring under the Wineo brand for the North American markets.

The organic flooring was created by inventor Ulrich Windmöller.

Using a combination of natural ingredients and science, Windmöller set out to create a new flooring material that would exceed performance expectations in the most demanding commercial applications, the companies said.

He did not start with a base flooring product and then adjust or replace ingredients. Instead he tested plants, formulations and processes to come up with something entirely new.

The companies said it took advanced technology, precision engineering and more than six years of research and development to invent the flooring that’s produced with nearly 90% rapidly renewable and natural raw materials.

Ingredients include rapeseed, castor oil and the natural filler material chalk

Purline is the first in this new product line and was recently awarded the “interior innovation award 2014,” by the German Design Council.

Purline’s maintenance requirements do not involve finishing, waxing, buffing or stripping.

The product consists of a PU top layer, decor paper, glass fiber reinforcement and the base PU layer. A Fleece-TEC-system is laminated onto the bottom that the company says makes the flooring easy and convenient to install.
